About Me
After putting in over ten years of blood, sweat and tears into a mix of new and traditional journalism jobs I have quit, packed it in, packed it up and headed back to school. I am a graduate student at Kent State University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communications working on a master’s degree in an individualized program focusing on Convergence Ethics.
It’s been an interesting adventure so far and promises to get even more interesting as I go.
Boring resume stuff: I have worked for ABC News in London as a desk editor and web content producer. I spent a couple years as Web producer at WCPO.COM in Cincinnati, Ohio. During a three year hiatus to Nevada to climb rocks, I worked for a weekly newspaper/online radio station/ online news group in Mesquite. Before returning to school I spent a year as editor of a weekly newspaper in Lake County, Ohio.
Before college I spent many years contributing to the Star Beacon in Ashtabula, Ohio. I also spent some time as a radio news anchor in Athens, Ohio during my undergraduate studies at Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
During my undergrad studies I also participated in a research project in Edinburgh, Scotland, regarding stereotypes in international media, followed by a stint in Leipzig, Germany studying Art and Politics in the New Europe.
Outside of journalism and travel, I am an avid rock climber. I have an amazing daughter who will be two years old next March. it might be a cliche, but she really is a constant source of joy, love, knowledge and amazement for me. Kids are just phenomenal and watching her learn is my favorite thing to do.
